Enthusiastic Reception for Omer Klein & The Poetics’ Debut

On 29.04, Omer Klein debuted his new sextet, The Poetics, at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt. The sold-out concert was one of the peaks of Klein’s season-long residency at the venue. Klein was joined on stage by saxophonists Tineke Postma and Omri Abramov, percussionist Tupac Mantilla, bassist Haggai Cohen Milo and drummer Amir Bresler.
Here are excerpts from the reviews published so far:
“High-spirited cheers, a standing ovation at the end. No wonder, since Omer Klein, this season’s jazz resident at Frankfurt’s Alte Oper, plunges so deeply into a Dionysian celebration of jazz with his new sextet, The Poetics. (…) The sparkling vitality of the brilliant ensemble, which presented itself to the audience for the first time in the sold-out Mozart Hall, transcends itself.”
– Frankfurter Rundschau
“Free-breathing collective music. Meaningful poetry without words (…) We eagerly await the sextet’s first recording.”
– FAZ
“Everything was met with lively applause, as the predominantly optimistic, bright, upbeat melodies, which also drifted into melancholic nostalgia (…) deserved.”
– Frankfurter Neue Presse
